You finally decided to get Invisalign to straighten your teeth, and today you pick up your first clear aligners! It’s exciting to think about your beautifully straight smile.

Treatment with Invisalign in Wicker Park is easy and convenient, and here are a few tips for wearing your aligners and getting the most out of treatment.

Wear Your Invisalign Aligners 22 Hours a Day

The longer you wear your aligners each day, the faster you will complete treatment. Your goal is 22 hours a day, removing them out only for meals and oral hygiene.

You can also take short breaks once in a while or remove the aligners for a big event like a wedding, reunion, or job interview. Just remember that leaving them out for longer periods can start to undo the progress you’ve already made.

Caring for Your Invisalign Aligners

Be sure to take your aligners out before drinking colorful beverages like coffee or red wine. If it can stain your teeth, it can stain your aligners, and they will lose their crystal-clear appearance.

One of the advantages of Invisalign is that you can remove them for meals. Just be sure to brush your teeth and rinse the aligners before putting them back in your mouth.

Cleaning Your Aligners

There’s a difference between rinsing your aligners and cleaning them. Rinsing prevents food particles from getting trapped in your aligners when wearing them. But you also have to clean your aligners to remove plaque and saliva buildup. Brush your aligners with a soft toothbrush and store them in your protective case when you don’t wear them.
