Dental Implants Restore Bite and Function

Replace missing teeth with Dental Implants in Chicago, IL

While no one wants to lose a tooth, advances in technology for placing dental implants have made the procedure safer and much more comfortable than it was in the past. Dental implants offer the best option because they replace the entire structure of a missing tooth. The dentists at Wicker Park Dental Group offer dental implants to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth, so you can restore full functionality to your smile

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants are placed directly into your jaw bone by an oral surgeon to provide stimulation that puts a stop to bone resorption. Once the implant is placed, replacement teeth can provide support for any remaining teeth in your mouth and prevent them from shifting out of place or fracturing from uneven bite force when you chew. Ideally, implants are placed after your extraction site has healed, and you should allow your implants time to fuse to the bone before placing prosthetic teeth.

With proper care, dental implants can provide a permanent solution to your missing teeth because they fuse in place in your jaw. Dental implants can also provide support for a dental bridge to replace several teeth in a row, or can support complete dentures

Placing All on 4 Dental Implants

When you need to replace all of your teeth, there are a few options to consider. Many patients prefer All-on-4 dental implants because they can be placed on the day of extraction and don’t require bone grafts. However, the drawback is you won’t have as much support on the back of your jaw for chewing. Full mouth dental implants replace each tooth individually. However, the cost is often too much for most patients to consider.

Full mouth dentures can be set on as few as 5-6 dentures and still provide more support for your mouth than All-on-4 dentures, and they can be designed to be removable to reduce the stress on your jaw. The drawback is they still cost more, and they require more time to place.

The dentist at Wicker Park Dental Group in Chicago, IL, will go over the benefits and drawbacks of all the ways you can replace your missing teeth, and help you decide the option that works best for you. Dental Implants

If you have missing teeth, there are many excellent solutions available today. Dental implants continue to be preferred by dentists because an artificial titanium root makes them the closest thing we have to natural teeth.

Dental implants are preferred by dentists because they’re a healthy tooth replacement and by patients because they look, act, and function like a natural tooth. Whether you compare them to other methods or consider them on their own, dental implants offer numerous oral health benefits.

Dental Implants Are a Long-Term Tooth Replacement

Dental implants are a highly successful, long-term tooth replacement that has been used widely for 50 years. An implant is a tiny titanium post that acts as an artificial tooth root and is placed surgically in your jawbone.

As the implant post heals over the next 3-6 months, it fuses with the surrounding bone and tissue in a process called osseointegration.

Dental Implants Restore Comfortable Chewing

When your dental implants have healed completely, we attach a tooth restoration like a crown, bridge, or denture.

  • If you have one missing tooth, a single implant supports a dental crown to restore function and appearance.
  • For multiple missing teeth, our dentists in Chicago would recommend a bridge or partial denture.
  • If you are missing all your upper teeth, lower teeth, or both, we can place as few as four implants in your jawbone to support a complete custom denture.

We customize your denture with attachments that snap onto the implants already in your jaw. The result is a complete smile that functions comfortably, restores your confidence, and lets you eat all your favorite foods again.

Dental Implants Support Jawbone Health

A root does much more than hold a tooth in place. When you speak and chew, it helps stimulate bone regeneration in your jaw. When you lose a tooth, this action stops, and the bone starts to resorb or shrink.

Removable dentures don’t prevent bone loss because they sit on top of your gums, and the only tooth replacement that does is dental implants. Since the implant post in your jaw mimics a natural tooth root, it prevents bone loss for a healthier jawbone and adds fullness to your face.

A Dental Implant Tooth Looks Like a Real Tooth

As part of your dental implant consultation, our dentists will recommend the proper tooth restoration for you. Whether you need a single crown for one missing tooth or a bridge or full denture for multiple teeth, you can be confident that it will look realistic and blend beautifully with your smile.

Orlando C

“As a person who hates needles and had bad teeth let me tell you how much I hate the dentist office. Some of my experiences have been so painful I wait until I absolutely have no choice before returning. All of that changed with my experience here! The staff top to bottom front house to back room 5 Star amazing. The doctor so kind so patient explained everything in detail a ton of options. And last but not least … but most important to me little to no pain. Thank the heavens for “ these great people” I’m a customer for life and I look forward to better oral health. Sincerely, ( with a tear of joy ) Orlando.”
